On Tulsi Gabbard’s last day as Director of National Intelligence, she dropped a bomb about Dr. Anthony Fauci’s role in the COVID-19 pandemic. She released “never-before-seen” files, which imply that Fauci mislead Congress while under oath about COVID-19’s origins, and “provided millions in U.S. taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute.”
Fauci Appears to have Lied to Congress About COVID-19
According to the files Gabbard shared, Fauci appears to have lied to Congress in 2024. When asked whether he had spoken to any intelligence agencies about viral research — either before, during, or after the pandemic — Fauci apparently replied with “not to my knowledge about COVID.”
Fauci has always denied that he funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. He has also insisted that he never lied to Congress, nor did he cover up COVID-19’s origins.
Senator Rand Paul applauded Gabbard for her decision to release these files. Furthermore, he suggested that the preemptive pardon that former Presiden Joe Biden granted Fauci should be challenged due to this newfound evidence. Paul said:
“He not only destroyed records, but he would send emails to others and say when you read this destroy it. So, he’s guilty of multiple crimes and someone needs to have the guts to indict him. He needs to be investigated.”

Why Does All This Matter Now, Years After the Pandemic?
The current administration is revisiting the decisions made during the pandemic. Furthermore, it is in the process of scrutinizing standard scientific processes. Should the allegations prove to be true, it would cause serious issues regarding public trust in the scientific community. Global perceptions about government transparency and honesty are already at an all-time low.
Fauci is famous for having declared “I AM THE SCIENCE” during his 2024 hearing on Capitol Hill.
If the documents reveal that he did in fact lie to congress, and was responsible for helping to spread misinformation about the pandemic, it could have dire consequences for public faith in science and medicine.
“The COVID-19 pandemic caused tremendous hardship and pain for millions of our fellow Americans and for countless people around the world. After years of lies, censorship, and cover ups, the American people deserve transparency, truth, and accountability.”
Fauci has not yet responded regarding the release of these files.
