Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globe awards in 2020, much to the chagrin of many A-listers. Gervais is known for his no-nonsense, scathing humor, and the jabs he took at the Hollywood elites elicited glares and nervous laughter all around. Never before had someone referred to entertainment industry royalty as a bunch of perverts, at least not openly. Most importantly, he said the quiet part out loud: he mentioned on live television that Epstein had been their friend.
Those who may not have known much about Jeffrey Epstein before this happened suddenly wondered why so much attention was being paid to him. After all, if he wasn’t a big deal, why was he connected to so many people? Suddenly, collective curiosity was piqued, and many individuals started doing research to connect the dots.
Gervais’s Dig at Epstein at the 2020 Golden Globe Awards Show
During his speeches at the 2020 Golden Globes, Gervais kept making comments about pedophiles in the audience. In particular, when he promoted the second season of his show “Afterlife”, in which a man is mourning the death of his wife and contemplating suicide. He reassured the audience that it didn’t happen, however, with the following quip:
“It has a second season though, so he obviously doesn’t kill himself in the end—just like Jeffrey Epstein.”
There were many gasps and glares from the audience after that, to which Gervais responded with:
“I know he’s your friend. But I don’t care.”
This happened shortly after he had mentioned that the entire audience was terrified of Ronan Farrow, and that he’d be coming for them. To those who aren’t familiar with Ronan Farrow, he’s the biological son of Mia Farrow and Woody Allen. Ronan is an investigative journalist who has shown unconditional support towards his sister Dylan, who maintains that she had been abused by Woody as a child.
Additionally, he was one of the journalists who investigated Harvey Weinstein, leading to his convictions for rape and sexual assault. Then in 2019, he investigated MIT’s Media Lab’s concealment of its ties with Jeffrey Epstein. This investigation led to Joi Ito‘s resignation.
As we have witnessed, this investigation opened the doors to far more scrutiny of Epstein’s ties with global organizations. It’s no surprise then that so many celebs seemed uncomfortable when Gervais mentioned Ronan Farrow’s name in his speech. After all, he has a solid track record for digging things up that others would prefer to keep hidden.

The Epstein Timeline Unfolds from There
The release of the (albeit severely redacted) Epstein files has shown us just how enmeshed he was with global Elites. These include foreign business associates and heads of state, as well as well-known actors, musicians, and other public figures. Epstein’s Zorro ranch is currently being investigated to search for buried bodies. Members of Congress have viewed the unredacted files, and were horrified at what they witnessed therein.
In fact, the horrors therein are so extreme that a panel of UN Human Rights Council experts said they may amount to “crimes against humanity”.
With those mentioned in the files now under scrutiny, and arrests being made worldwide, we’re seeing a great deal of forward momentum in seeking justice for unspeakably heinous crimes. And we’re also left wondering whether all of this would have come to light so quickly if a certain English comedian hadn’t kicked the small stones that began the avalanche.
